A Faction Shift?

At first glance the only thing you may get from this picture is a good chuckle but there may be more here than just a good laugh. You may be witnessing a true paradigm shift. President Reagan in his eight years in office was successfully able to convince poor and blue collar whites that they had more in common with upper income whites than with poor minorities. The Republicans stoked the fires with "Them" against "Us" rhetoric for years. Now with a sagging economy and a war that has cost thousands of American lives many of these same people are starting to question their loyalty to a party that doesn't seem to represent their needs.

What working class whites have been seeing over the past eight years, especially the last four years, is that maybe they do have more in common with blacks. Now by no means is this a water shed, but it is a shift. These whites are seeing that their income is not going up. That Reagan Economics didn't lift their boats and that they are the ones fighting and dying in this questionable war.

The Republicans may no longer be able to expect the old line of guns and putting God back in schools to hold this population. If a President Obama administration is able to bring greater prosperity to this disenfranchised blue collar segment the Democrats may be able to expand their base.

It will take a long time for these people to change. A bunch of my family members are these people you are talking about. They don't like McCain and they are mad at republicans. They know they should vote for Obama but they are just tied to the old ways. It would help if his name wasn't Hussein Obama. If he was John Smith it would be easier.

From a youth's perspective, let me say that Obama is going to try hard to turn this nation around. He is Christian and he honors God. This is the first quality it takes to be successful. He will seek to restore this nation back to its Creator. This is that amazing factor that most people cannot figure out. People are in amazament because of how Obama has taken this nation by storm. With God on his side, he will make it. Many prayers have gone out and will contiue going out for Obama. Thank God that I am growing up in a nation where some people still believe in and honor God. This give me hope beyond what I see everyday in school, in the streets and being reported by the media outlets.

I urge everyone to keep the prayers going for Obama. He will need our prayers now more than ever. What a man, a real man for young black youth to look up to. A family man, a married man with children being loved and supported as they should be on a daily basis. Many young black men don't get a chance to see this life style very often. Now they finally will on a regular basis. I am excited about that. Not old enough to vote yet, but excited about what is going to happen this day.

A real black man that we can look up to and want to be like when we grow up. Thank God Almighty.

I'll believe it when I see it. People don't change their hate that easy.
