Charges Dropped

It is my practice not to make predictions or even comment on those going through our legal system. I find it is best to allow justice to take its course. That being said, when I heard that the charges against Edmund Ford, Sr. - former City Councilman and Joseph Lee - former head of MLGW were dropped I had to ask why were these two men charged in the first place?

I understand, appreciate and support the work that the Federal Bureau of Investigation does and I will praise them when they do their job well, but they must also accept criticism when they fail. The lives of Mr. Ford and Mr. Lee were turned upside down. Careers were destroyed, reputations were tarnished, and financial resources were drained. "My Bad" is just not good enough. It is one thing to go to trial and loose, but it is a completely different story to have such flimsy evidence that it can't even make it to trial. The FBI owes these two men a public apology.

It was disheartening to witness so many of our City officials being indited and convicted by the FBI. Don't get me wrong. I shed no tears for those who broke the law, and I commend the work the FBI did in removing these weak men and women from their respected positions. People who where given the trust of the public only to use that trust for their own greed deserve to pay for what they have done. But this does not mean that I sit at home relishing in joy that another official is being torn apart by the press and the public. All too often people are quick to judge and slow to forgive. We find pleasure in seeing a celebrity or wealthy person being knocked to the ground. I for one find far more healthier ways to entertain myself.

For Ford and Lee I regret they had to go through what must have been a nightmare. It is my sincere wish that they and their families are able to move on with their lives. I wish them all the best.

It is impossible to keep good men down. Try hard to, but it will fail. Mr. Joseph Lee and Mr. Edmund Ford will not be prosecuted. They will survive. Mr. Edmund Ford, Jr is carrying on the legacy of his father and the Ford family by serving on the city council. This is just the first step for him. Our district is blessed to have Mr. Edmund Ford represent us. His goodwill will be blossom for years to come. Efforts to foil one, only opens the door of opportunity for advancement of another. Mr. Edmund Ford, Jr. is indeed a chip off the old block of his father. An austue and remarkable young man. A role model for our young men who usually only see baggy pants and caps turned backwards. Mr. Ford is serving well and will continue to serve well. We am proud to have Mr. Ford as my councilman. We admonish residents of this disctrict to frequent the council chambers and observe at a distance, Mr. Ford professional conduct and brilliance.

Sorry but it seems these guys just slip through the net. My view is that where there is smoke there is fire.

I am somewhat in the middle on this issue. I agree with 11:17 the Fords are a shady group of people, but I agree with you Reginald that the FBI should have done a better job or they should have left these men alone.

Call me 50 - 50.

You are being too nice. Like rats that escape a trap. They might have gotten away but they are still rats.
