Curse You God of Sports!

Coach John Calipari expressed it so well when he said Memphis needs this win. You could feel it in the air. Memphians were a buzz. Everywhere I went I saw BLUE. People were turning to perfect strangers and saying, "Go Tigers!" It was electric.

What makes a great city? Is it big buildings, or major businesses, or huge stadiums? No, it's the people and more importantly it's how the people feel about their city. Memphians have for too long walked around with a dark cloud over their heads. Even as the Tigers advanced you could hear in the shadows people saying, "We can't win." As if this city is cursed. Speaking with one friend who told me that there was no way the Tigers could win, "The god of sports is only playing with us. He won't let us have it. Like the Titans at the 2000 Super Bowl he will bring us to the edge and then snatch it away." I hate this pessimism. I hate it even more when it seems to turns out to be right.

That game was ours... oh, curse you god of sports.

You gotta give it to our boys though they did a hell of a job. Nothing can be taken from them. Go Tigers, Go!

We should have a parade for the Memphis State basketball team. Like welcome them home or something.

They played their hearts out, nobody can take that from them.

The TIGERS were awesome and I look forward to next year. Every great thing happens in phases. This phase is the begining of our greatness. Wait and SEE. Blue and Gray all the way.

I'm not going to be nice. They blew it! They got lazy at the end and blew it!

I went to the airport to welcome home our heroes, there should have been more Memphians there. We need to learn how to support our own if we want to go forward.

I truly hope that lots of our young boys and teenagers of all nationalities were watching to see the fine characters of our U of M Tigers. These find young men are the real men of today and tomorrow. It is not often that we see our young African American men perfoming like real men. Together all of the way on the court. No show of jealousy or self seeking motives. I learned a lot from watching and hope others did too. All male I should say and worthy of fine wives to be mothers for their children and lifelong help mates. Working hard and sweating for the cause they believed in, "VICTORY". They really got a victory.
