Husband Store

A store that sells husbands has just opened in New York City, where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates. You may visit the store ONLY ONCE!

There are six floors and the attributes of the men increase as the shopper ascends the flights. There is, however, a catch . . . you may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up a floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building! So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband.

She goes to the first floor, and the sign on the door reads:

Floor 1 - These men have jobs and love the Lord.

She decides to go to the second floor, and the sign reads:

Floor 2 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, and love kids.

Getting excited she goes on to the third floor, and the sign reads:

Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, and are extremely good looking.

"Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop-dead good looking and help with the housework.

"Oh mercy me" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!" Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop-dead gorgeous, help with the housework and have a strong romantic streak.

She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 6 - You are the 4,363,112th visitor to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.

Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store. Watch your step as you exit the building, and have a nice day!

Are women hard to please or are good men hard to find? Memphis was ranked as a great place for singles to live. Do you think that is true?

So true! You can't please a woman. She always is trying to change you. And when they change you they want to change you again.

The truth is, being married is a compromise - you do everything your wife tells you to do and she won't kill you. I've been doing it for 23 years and so far so good.

The reason there are so many singles in Memphis is that none of them are worth marrying.

MEMPHIS' MEN: Broke, Lazy, Unemployed, Criminal Record, Deadbeat, Uneducated, and Immature.

MEMPHIS' WOMEN: Mean, Overweight, Baby Mommys, and Controlling.

If you live in Memphis being single is not a choice it is a way of life.

I lived in San Antonio Texas for eight years before moving to Memphis because of my job. There is a difference. There just aren't as many choices. The biggest problem I run across is the lack of education among Memphis women, and I'm not just talking about college. Memphians are not very worldly. It's like they live in a bubble when it comes to culture, art, politics, etc. In Memphis you talk about Crime, Race, Church and that's it. I'm sorry but I can't wait to move.

We women are picky because at the end of the day we are the ones left to take care of the children when the man walks out. Men are so caring at first, so loving at first, and so committed at first, then when they get what they want they are so first out the door.

I am another who wants to see the source of this data.

While some are bashing women, remember mothers are women and had it not been for a woman, you would not be in this world. A woman can be pleased. Dissatisfied men are those who do not want to develop suitable family behavior. There was a time when men were real men. No we have lots of males but very few real men. I am glad that I am not in the market for a husband. I found a good HUSBAND. It's a long shot finding a HUSBAND today. It's easy to stumble up on a pants wearer but not a full blooded MAN. Our culture has changes and in so, the nature of humankind has changed. Females need to return to being ladies and males need to return to being gentlemen.

You have a very negative view of people in Memphis. You need to get out more. There are a lot of wonderful people who have jobs, are not criminals, and are not controlling.

I hope you don't leave Memphis. I find we have a very good mix of the Bohemian class of people who live in Mid-Town, Cooper-Young and Downtown. They devote a lot of their energy discussing politics, and the arts. In fact there is a dress rehearsal for "Top Dog, Under Dog" at Hattiloo Theater tonight at 7:30 pm.

People, Memphis is a great place to live but you have to take the time to look around. Now get out there and have fun.

"...mothers are women and had it not been for a woman, you would not be in this world."

True, but had it not been for men you wouldn't be here either. Just having some fun with you.

What do you mean by a "real man"?

Man you must be blind there are a lot of beautiful women in Memphis. Many are smart; kind; have a good job. To me it must be harder to be a women because it seems there are far more professional women in Memphis than men. This city is a great place to find a female. If you want to leave do so because that will leave more for the rest of us.

It's television. Everybody thinks in marriage you will be entertained, happy, and loving every moment. This is my second marriage and by far the best. Talking with my friends they agree (all are on their second or third marriage) that the first time you go in with blinders on. The things you think that are important: looks, we both like Star Trek, and he calls me boo bear, don't mean crap. The second marriage you look for compatibility, stability, and maturity. You know the things that bug you and you accept that YOU WILL NOT CHANGE HIM/HER.

I'm a 33 year old women and I can't find a good man. I'm not talking about great man, just a good man. The guys in memphis all want to play games. It sad and it looks like I'm going to spend the rest of my life by myself.
