Wedding Bells For Herenton?

Yesterday, 2/27/08, I was informed by a reliable source that Mayor Herenton is engaged to an attractive 40 year old woman. If it's true we wish them both well.

What do you think?

That ol' dog!

Well good for him if he found himself a young filly to keep him company.

What is it with these older men marrying these younger girls? These men don't know what they are missing. I'm 62 years old and I could rock his world. They are willing to substitute experience, maturity and understanding for a tight behind.

Your mistake Mayor Herenton.

Hey 9:54 a.m. give me a call!

You know it doesn't matter what this man does. He has distroyed this city and to sit around talking about him getting married to me is a waste of time. People are fleeing from Memphis and King Willie says "You want to leave, leave." What a buffoon.

If he found someone. That's great and fine. This still does not have anything to do with how this City is being operated. The Mayor lacks vision. He should not have run a for a fifth term. He did it not for the City but for his ego. Memphis has got to wake up. The old machines have to be removed.

The Mayor has done a lot for this city. Those of you who attack him should run for office and see how hard the job is.

Good! If the Mayor is getting married, he is obeying God. Premarital sex is sin and if the Mayor has finally realized that his sexual desires must be satisfied only in marriage, he is on the road to enlightenment. Once he is enlightened morally, he is a candidate for enlightment on how to run the city. You see, most leaders lack leadership abilities because their own personal lives are in disarray.

The city of Memphis cannot be strengthened by a leader who is weak enough to fall to illicit sex. I hear you, "everybody is doign it". Guess what everybody that is doing it (sex outside of marriage)is wrong. When the day is over, it is still wrong. I hear you, people are not going to stop. No they are not, but it is still wrong. Thank God, I hope it is true. I am sure that allies of the Mayor emulates his wrong actions. If the city gets word that the Mayor is no longer a fornicator, I truly believe that others will follow in his foot steps. A true leader influences others. If we can get one person on the right path, that's great. If the children and students can hear that the Mayor is married and functions legally in the sex department, this will give them hope as well.

We need all of the moral behavior on display as possible.

And to 1:10PM, you are intrigued by a tight "behind". What is your problem. Can easily see through your preferences. You really need help. Soliciting for sex on a blog. What a sick city. I think I will refer this activity to the FBI. Solicitation is illegal. You could possibly be one of the sexual perverts living in our community.

The Mayor lacks vision.

Please share your vision for our great city. Perhaps you can be a write in the next time.

It is our responsibility to do something about our minds. Once a person has been converted and becomes a new man, he is to focus his thoughts on God, as well as the good things of life. We, as Believers, should never dwell on immoral, fleshly, worldly, selfish, sinful or evil thoughts. Sinful and negative thoughts disrupt and destroy our peace. The mind always goes down to the level of the flesh, but we have to control it because we live in the flesh and that is the thing we gravitate to. And that is why we need to operate in the Word of God in order to control our thinking, which will control our flesh.

To poster: I'm sorry I had to cut your comment down a bit. You were a bit preachy. Please try not to give a bible class, but share with us your own thoughts and words. - Milton

7:01

You are the reason I'm no longer involved in the church. It became tiring being around all you self-righteous hypocrites. I bet Mr. Milton had to delete page after page of you quoting Chapter and Verse of the Bible. You people know the words but don’t have a clue to the meaning behind the words.

You talk about the Mayor's sins and the other bloggers’ sins and the world's sins. Christ said we all sin, so what's your sin 7:01? Tell us your dirty little secretes. No you won't do that. People like you spend their time pointing out everybody else sins so they don't have to think about their own short comings. Why don't you spend your time looking in the mirror and trying to save that sinner and give the rest of us a break!

I am not qualified to run for Mayor of Memphis, but as a voter I have a right, and obligation, to judge the qualification of those who are elected. When you have a mayor that attacks anyone who dares question him; when you have a mayor having a child out of wedlock in a City were our children need a better role model; when you have a mayor who tells the people who are paying the taxes for the City that they can leave; when you have a mayor that says he can do nothing about crime; when you have a mayor that uses polarizing comments to win office; when you have a mayor who makes deals that cost the City millions (Parking Lot scandal, FedEx Forum lucrative package, over budgeted Cannon Center); when you have a mayor that appoint ex-felons & body guards to $100,000 a year jobs and refuse to explain his reasoning; and, oh I'm tired of listing all this man's problems.

It's not that I have a better idea, or clearer vision, or better skills, or greater insight it's that I know the ones that are in office now (Mayor Herenton and for that matter many on the City Council and County Commission) don't have these skills either.

That is what concerns me.

Tell me 4:52pm what about people that never get married or someone who is a widow and doesn't want to get married again or someone who is putting off marriage for many years until they can build their careers? So none of these people should have sex.

Sex is not a sin, and between two consenting adults who take proper precautions is a beautiful way of expressing their love.

As a Christian and you can spend the rest of your life interpreting the Bible to meet your specific views.

MY GOD is a loving God and I embrace his teachings, but you sound like a bitter, lonely and misguided individual. I'll pray for you.

Try getting involved with Jesus. Let me know what happens after you get involved with Jesus. You cannot stay involved with the church until you first get involved with Jesus.

Said it once, say it again. herenton ran for herenton and not Memphis. He knew he was not liked by the majority of the middle and upper class people in this city - You know, the people that pay taxes, create jobs, spend money and help move the city forward. He knew the best thing for MEMPHIS was for him to move on, but to stick his finger in the face of those who opposed him he ran and the uneducated, and poor voted him back in. They have no idea that the only person they are hurting is themselves. Memphis had an opportunity to change to change the course of this dying city when they could have voted for a new mayor and new city council but they put the same crap back in office. Well my family is moving out of Memphis. You can have it.
