A Tent Too Small

Chip Saltsman who was former chair of the Tennessee Republican Party and former champaign manager for presidential candidate Mike Huckabee sent republicans a "Christmas" greeting CD that called President-elect Barack Obama the Magic Negro.

Mr. Saltsman who is seeking to be the new Republican National Party Chair, gives us a rare glimpse into the mind of many in the GOP. They are shackled by their inability to see beyond race. Obama is the epitome of success: Harvard graduate, former senator, and family man, but what do they see - A "Negro".

At the Republican National Convention you saw a sea of white people. How can this party honestly state they want to represent the entire country when their tent only allows a small select group?

The future of the GOP depends on bring in new members. If they are to survive they MUST reach out to minorities. If they can't do this their future will be bleak, and as I have stated before this is not a good thing. This Nation needs a two party system. The tug-of-war between the parties is what keeps us from being led by extremist - be it from the left or right.

Members of the Republican party must take a hard line on such disgraceful acts. Saltsman is not the man that should led this party. He should be denounced.

Reginald where have you been!

It's been over a week since your last post. Glad you're back.

Bet $50 he wish he could take back those CD's.

They are denouncing him. The Chair of the Tennessee Republican Party stated that this type of act is unacceptable. This is not the way most republicans think. We are an open party but if blacks don't want to join what can we do about it? Of course what Saltsman said was wrong but don't blame the entire party for the action of one fool. Democrats do dumb things too so let's be fair.

What racist about it? Funny to me.

How is this so different from the minister who has been chosen to do the inaugural prayer? The minister is very prejudiced and appears to be just another opportunist being given national attention and focus.

I would rather delete the prayer segment of the program rather than have such a terribly discriminatory bigot, who does not believe in equality, offer a hypocritical prayer.

Hey 7:07 you said "delete the prayer segment." If Obama did that you know every body would be screaming "He's a Muslim, he's a Muslim!" We shouldn't leave God out.

This is only the beginning. Obama had better get ready for attacks from the conservatives and the liberals.

If he is going to survive he will have put his foot down early.

Now republicans are coming to this guy defense.

Did you watch that Ice Age movie with the DoeDoe birds and how they ran off the cleft?

Keep it up re-pubs and soon you will be extinct.

This is a polite blog site. There are nicer ways to make your point. Good manners are needed even if we are allowed to be anonymous.

Happy New Year to all.

Where have I been? Just juggling dozens of projects before the holidays start. I'm back now. Thanks for the concern.

I'm sorry I don't agree. The reason President-elect Obama selected Richard Warren is because he is taking a stand, and rightly so in my opinion, to those who have single issue litmus tests. Pastor Warren does have conservative views on abortion and gay marriage, which is his right. This is not out of hate but out of conviction. What Saltsman did was disrespectful.

I hate to say it but I think you are absolutely correct. Obama will have to be his own man and not bend to pressure from extremist. This does not mean he should not be open to new ideas, but this endless fighting must end.

Thank you for pointing out that this IS a polite blog. No one should feel intimidated because of their views. I welcome those who agree with me and those who do not.

Thank you for being big enough to say you were sorry. Believe me sometimes I want to scream at some of the view people have but all that does is make them deaf and you hoarse.
